The white-and-black stone in these cases is White Buffalo, and the first thing we’ll tell you about it is the thing too many shops won’t: it isn’t turquoise. White Buffalo is a calcite-based stone with none of the copper that gives turquoise its blues and greens, discovered by the Otteson family in 1993 on their claims outside Tonopah, Nevada. Plenty of places sell it as “white turquoise.” We’d rather you know exactly what you’re taking home — the same honesty we bring to every stone we sell.
